Session 2 – Day 16: Refreshing!
Hi Herzl Family!
It was a dewey day because there’s God and we all needed a little slow down after the ruachy ruach filled day yesterday. We made everyone enjoy an early to bed night after Bikkurim, which takes a little longer for everyone to slow and calm down, but we also made this morning a sleep-in/late start day. The camp had a palpable sigh of rest, happiness, and contentment.
To add to it, the weather changed dramatically. The humidity lifted and it was a nice cool crisp summer day that was also very welcomed. A natural air conditioning in the cabins providing a welcomed circulation of cool air. I just used “welcomed” too much.
The heavy dew didn’t stop anyone today because it was not that heavy after this morning. It was a nice cool, light drizzle and pretty much every part of Camp got to operate except for the waterfront which pivoted quite well up onto the Teyelet for volleyball, 9 square, cornhole, and more. However, that made the Fishing Chug feel like the rulers of the sea, because they had it to themselves and it was a perfect fishing day. Many a prized Crappies and Blue Gills were reeled in, Babe Winkleman would have been proud. (For those of you who are not children of the 70’s & 80’s you can lear about Babe Winkleman here).
It was a welcomed gray cool day and all the chatter around the Lem Lem cooler is how awesome of a Bikkurim it was.
As I was giving Enzo the evening stroll around camp, I just gave my nightly nod to God to say thanks! Campers were engaged in programs all around me. You could hear all sorts of things going on all around. I actually just heard a compliment from one counselor to another about how cool their evening program was, which was based around the meaning of prayer and how surprised they were at how engaged the campers were. But then, of course, as I looked over to Ozo Park and the ultimate fields, even in the dim light of the evening, there’s still kids throwing frisbees… because it’s Herzl Camp. So now you can know…
All is well, safely rest.
Thanks for sending your kid to Herzl Camp
