Session 3 – Day 12: B’yachad Shabbat
Hi Herzl Family!
Shavua Tov!
We just wrapped up B’yachad Shabbat. It was a doozy! I’m gonna be a little brief tonight because I want to spend my post Shabbat hours editing up a podcast to get it out to you as soon as possible, but I’ll share with you a few thoughts and perspective from this Shabbat.
The B’yachad campers put together a great Shabbat. The song session had everybody loving and gushing and singing, and swinging in perfect Herzl Camp style. The services were inclusive and equally engaging. But the real winner was watching these campers at the end of their camper. Life experience embrace what they have grown to love here at Herzl Camp what it has made them and how it has shaped who they are. There’s a few rookies in B’yachad this year and some of the tears of joy that we saw after song session last night had a hint of “I wish I would’ve done this sooner!”
But the thing that I think stuck out the most for me today was watching so many of the B’yachad campers helping, playing with, or showing younger campers how things are done. Whether it was at services or some schtick at the flag circle last night…but the biggest one I noticed was at Israeli dancing. B’yachad campers were quite literally getting younger campers in the mix with them and making sure they knew the dance so that this awesome Saturday night tradition and magic will carry on for many years to come.
I think they’re going to be amazing Ozrim and I’m excited for our future!
Before I bid you farewell, here’s a link to the latest HerzlCast. (or on Spotify at HerzlCast)
Have a great week and know that we will be milking it all as it’s our final week of Summer ‘25. While that saddens me, I’m happy to report that…
All is well, safely rest.
Thank you for sending your kid to Herzl Camp.
