Crucible of experience – 2nd Session, Kadima & B’Yachad June 28th

Evenin’ folks!

Here’s one of my rare brief notes.

I had to run down to the Twin Cities for some meetings tomorrow. By the way, when I say “had,” I really mean had. I don’t like being away for even a minute from your campers’ crucible of experience. (I heard that phrase in a meeting today and loved it.)

You’re giving your kids the gift of Jewish summer camp, and with everything that comes with that, you’re also giving them a transformative experience that tests their limits and fundamentally reshapes their identity.

Maybe that’s a little too philosophical from your pal Tommy… but I couldn’t resist.

The big news of the day is that, just before dinner, the staff gave the big reveal…BIKKURIM!

That’s right folks, the day every camper eagerly waits for (and constantly wonders when it’s coming, since we keep it bottled up as one of camp’s best surprises).

For those of you who are new to the Herzl community, Bikkurim is our all-camp Color Wars that will run through tomorrow night. You’re going to get a full play by play tomorrow night. My money is on the Purple Team… it always is. I can’t really tell you why, probably some combination of the Vikings and Prince from my childhood.

Good luck to all six teams! May the ruach be loud, the competition be spirited, and the memories last a lifetime.

So thank you for sending your kid to Herzl Camp.

I just talked to Danya and…

All is well. Safely rest.
