From Song to Reality: B’yachad Gets to Work
In 2025, B’yachad is truly living up to their song and “fixing things ’round the camp!” B’yachad is built on three core tenets, represented by intersecting rings: Unity, Community Service, and Avodah.
This year, we’re continuing the evolution of the B’yachad program that’s taken place over the last few years by focusing on Avodah and working around camp. B’yachad campers have the unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy by building, fixing, and creating.
So far, we’ve been working on two projects. The first is rebuilding the wayfinding signage around camp. These arrow posts are some of the first things people think of when they hear “summer camp.” Herzl Camp has expanded so much in the decades since our signs were last built, so B’yachad campers have been hard at work designing, painting, and building new ones that will last for generations to come.
B’yachad campers are also rebuilding the signage in the Flag Circle. Degel is one of the few times each day when the entire camp community comes together, so all the campers have been very excited to work here. They are creating four murals: one with a built-in clock so we always know when it’s time for Degel, and three more with the lyrics to the Herzl Camp Song, HaTikvah, and The Star-Spangled Banner.
We’re so excited for you to see all that they’ve done so far – and all they’ll continue to do. I couldn’t be prouder of the B’yachad campers and their hard work this summer!
