Israeli Camper Program expands in 13th Summer

1 Mar, 2024

Herzl Camp creates leaders who are passionate about Israel. One powerful way that camp ignites love for Israel is by bringing children from Sderot and surrounding communities to live side-by-side with our American campers. As they share cabins and canoes, our American campers learn about life in a Kibbutz along the Gaza border.

Camp friendships run deep, and in this year, campers and staff came together to support each other through previously unimaginable realities. Click here for their stories.

Since 2011, the program has grown from just 8 campers in one age group and our alumni in Southern Israel now number over 100. In response to the war, we are growing the program to 25 children in four age groups, from 8th-12th grade. Click here to hear directly from an Israeli dad about what a summer at Herzl means to their family. Because of you, this child will come to camp and “just be a kid.”

Israeli campers come to camp at no cost to their families—Your gift creates this transformative experience. Together, we are raising $187,500 to bring 25 campers from southern Israel.

  • A $7,500 donation gives an older camper six weeks at camp with their camp friends
  • A $1,333 gift gives a child week at camp and away from hotel rooms for displaced families.
  • A $190 donation gives a child a day on the shores of Devils Lake, immersed in the magic of Jewish camp

Your donation will create friendships that bridge the ocean and ignite a passion for Israel that will last a lifetime.
