Selection Process

Step 1 – Interested high school juniors enroll in the Ozo process via the camper registration system in the Fall. Registrations must be complete by November 8. No late enrollments will be accepted.
Step 2 – Over the course of the school year, potential Ozrim complete and submit the entry requirements.
Step 3 – Ozrim candidates who successfully complete the required criteria will earn entry to the program. If there are more qualified applicants than there are spaces available in a given session, a lottery will be held for the available spaces.

Entry Requirements

Ozrim must complete the following criteria to qualify for the Ozo Program:

  • Complete enrollment by registration deadline.
  • Complete an interview with a Herzl Camp staff or volunteer.
  • Submit 1 personal or professional reference.
  • Submit resume and personal essays.
  • 25 hours of group childcare experience.
  • 100 volunteer/work experience hours, including volunteering at a Herzl Camp event at least once.
  • Exemplary behavior and maturity in past camp programs.

Individuals who complete and graduate from the Ozo program will earn the Presidential Volunteer Service award with 350 volunteer hours. To learn more about this award visit https://presidentialserviceawards.gov/.
